Hello fellow shooters, I'm seeking opinions on the BLR from people who have owned one.

I've recently come across a chance to exchange my lightly used Savage 111 7RM for a BLR in 308. This trade is awesome because I can't afford a brand new BLR but a trade for one locally is doable. The savage kicks the daylights out of me everytime I shoot it but so far I just love the gun. Guess because it's my first and hits everything I aim it at. If it wasn't for being so light, I don't think the recoil would affect me that much. Maybe a change of stock if I decide to keep it.

I also would love to have a lever action and the BLR has all the combinations I like. Lever action, box mag, accurate centerfire rounds. Lever actions are just awesome! I know that they're not inherently as accurate as a bolt action, let alone a savage. What I'd like to know is how many of you have the BLR? What do you think of it? And would I regret trading a tack driver for a fun lever?

BLR 308win or a BLR81 in 308win?
Belly mag or flat mag?
If the values are comparable and you like the deal,
go man go............
They are accurate and fun to shoot.
And a great hunting companion.

Not the 81. Although that'd be perfect if it was! I'm not sure about the mag as I didn't pay much attention to it at the time. Savage 111s are a dime a dozen right now so I might just go for it and if I want another 111, I can pick it up later when I have the funds.

How are the BLRs for shooting seated or proned?

Not sure which stock you have on your Savage, but I bought one 3 years ago in 338 Win Mag with a synthetic stock and found the recoil to be a bit much. I recently replaced the stock with a Boyds laminate for $150. It might just be in my head, but I find the recoil a lot more tolerable and not to mention it looks great too. Sorry guys I'm just not a fan of BLRs. The other issue I would have with the scenario is "Why is he wanting to trade" Have you shot his rifle? Do you Know that it is accurate and functions properly? I'm very conservative with my purchases and I feel that in most cases the devil I know is better than the devil I don't know. Dollar for dollar it seems like a good trade but??????
