Browning BLR in 450 Marlin.

I currently have a blr in 358 win, its one awesome shooter. I have taken 3 head of game with it in the past 3 years. Anyways, I want to get another rifle in 45 cal. Does anyone own a blr in .450 Marlin, what are your thoughts about them?

I have one, love it. I bought it specifically for hunting calling season moose in tight country with shots of 60yds or less. I shoot 350gr hornady, 325gr hornady lipstick bullets(target only), have shot 300gr speer, and 400gr hawk for hunting. I tried a few 405gr hardcast, not my cup of tea.

I practice from 50, 85, and about 120 yds. Strictly browning issued iron sights, and as long as I do my part bullseyes are on the menu. I sometimes take a poke at my 450yd target, and occassionally even scare it a little. :p

Wonderful to load for, brass lasts forever and despite what you may be told is very easy to find. I have brass with literally more than 20 loads on that I haven't begun to use up. I use mostly IMR 3031, have tried a couple others, but I keep coming back to 3031. While brass is easy to find, .458 bullets are less commonly found. My favorite bullets would be the 350gr hornady and the 400gr hawk. I'm holding mine in the pic to the left. :D
 
I have one too that I picked up for hunting wild pigs in thick cover. I wanted a a controlable thumper for close range bush work and it is perfect for that. I started mine on 300gr Nosler Partions but have switched to Barnes 300 grain original cup and core spire points because it didn't like to feed the flat nose Noslers very smoothly. I pulled the plastic sights off and topped it with a 1.25x 4.25 Tasco Titan with a 30 mil tube. I have killed quite a few hogs with it and one large bull elk that I found escaped from a game farm (ear tagged and horns sawed off). No complaints here on recoil or lack of stopping power everything but the elk were bang flops and the elk I hit 6 times with 7 shots on the run from 50 yards out to about 250 yards where it fell over with a mag change in the middle. It was dead after the first one but just didn't realize it was dead and was heading for a big nasty draw full of chokecherry bush.

I don't know your budget but for 1900 you are able to get this
the magazine permits to put much longer bullets than the browning and much hotter loads
it a Steyr SBS big bore pro hunter

Thanks for the input guys, I'll have to do a little price hunting and see whats around. Im not worried about recoil, as I already have a Ruger #1 in 458 Win. Just want something a little handier for running around in the bush. My father cant hunting anymore, so all his bullet stock came to me. I could hunt 10 life times and not have to buy any bullets.
That Styer sure does look purdy :)
