yeah i rekon you guys are on money with hot barrel.... i got him to really wait an cool the barrel between shots, as i noticed the tube was gettin hot after each shot!! once we did this groups improved quite a bit.
the forend is also not free floating, so he is going to pull that off and put some effort in free floating it- the combo of those two issues make sense to me.
at 69 gr h1000 we were gettin into 2 inch country..... 2 shots would land within an inch most often and i agree with making the first 2 consistantly close, an a third is spraying an praying anyway, for the kind of hunting we do.
i post a video shortly....... i lent him the Ruger .35 whelen (he does own the 338 RCM i often speak of) an he was succesful this morning!!
i went to twist out the front scope ring an it 'snapped'... someone had welded the twist in ring to the burris base........... WTF. lol.
so he is starting again with it, pulling apart an new rings, new base an forend sanding etc.......
will start at 69gr an do the 70gr again as it looked promosing until noticed that it shot 1ft low with first 70 gr charges lol i wsa like What in the heck just happened man!?!?!?
on a good note,,,, CDS vx2 an my 708 are back on track..... not sure why but was shooting real high an Left at 100meters....... re zero-ed an went an JBM some data after the chrony read 2650 average for my 140gr rounds- boom ding. 300 an 350 no worries
bu thats for another day
thanks guys
