Browning BLR Take Down experience

I just got one off a fellow cgn'er and I have the same question. I have just put the first couple of shots down the barrel sighting in the rifle and I have a couple of observations. The rifle is accurate - one inch group at a 100, shooting factory ammo. The reason I opted for a takedown was ease of cleaning. Since purchasing the gun I bought a hoppes bore snake and it works great. I am not going to be taking it down a lot not because I worry about it loosening up over time but I am not sure if the scope will stay zeroed. I have read that you should rezero the scope after putting it back together but I don't have the patience for that.

I read a few reviews that said the scope stayed zero'd perfectly each time it was taken down and put back together. I'd love to get myself one. Like you said, it would be rare to take her down regularly, but for that traveling hunting trip, it sure is a nice option.

I bought one in 308 and have had no problems with mine. A little blueing has worn off some contact areas but nothing major. I tend to use the feature alot puting it together and taking it apart to put in behind the seat of my truck many, many, times last hunting season.

In regards to scope mounting. When I purchased the gun, the salesman said that they are not guaranteed to remain zeroed with a conventional scope mount, especially if you take it apart alot. I put a 'scout' mount and leopold scout scope on mine and have had no problems. It makes a great bush rig, I just wish my rifle didnt despise 180gr bullets.

Hope this helps some

My 358 Win has worked really well, I think it's a slick rig. I haven't noticed any change in zero...but she's not a bench rest gun anyway. It is up for sale if anyone is so inclined :D I wouldn't sell it if I hadn't picked up a custom 45/70 guide gun that is also a take down...it screws together and has worked pretty good as well although the set screw that holds everything in alignment did strip. Just not meant to be broken down and assembled too ofter...I actually think the BLR system is more robust and certainly simpler
