Hey, Hope everyone is doing well. I was wondering if anyone has experience taking apart the Browning Blr Takedown trigger assembly. I am pretty mechanically inclined and have taken apart and put together my BLR on multiple occasion with no issues, but have never gotten into the trigger assembly. After a few years of use I'm starting to see little spots of rust and wear here and there so I'm thinking of just getting it cerakoted black just for a little extra protection but for the trigger to get properly coated, it seems I need to disassemble the trigger assembly. Any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated and while I'm at it, if anyone has any experience performing a trigger job on these beauties, I would appreciate your knowledge and know how on that as well. I love my Takedown Blr especially, and since its almost impossible to find one nowadays since they've been discontinued, I want this one to last me as long as possible. Anyways, I just wanna say thank you for any and all advice, and I wish everyone a happy new years.

Reassembly requires timing, this is where most people have issues. You must have the patience to try and try again until it's correct. Read all you can on the subject then decide if you want to tackle the job.

Are you referring to the timing on the main lever gears? If so i pretty much have that nailed and can usually get it back together on the first try, the trigger assembly however is another story as ive never taken that apart. Do you have experience with the trigger on the blr?

Try and try ?
Just do it right the first time.

Yes, I am referring to the Cocking Gear. The trigger itself is fairly straightforward, drift pins from left-to-right for disassembly, the reverse for assembly. The Trigger Adjusting Screw, per factory, should never be removed.

Well that's a given, and can be applied to just about anything in life.

I posted the "try and try" because this part of assembly is where most people have issues, I didn't want to mislead the OP. Timing the action to the acceptable .001"-.015" can be difficult and even the factory states that this adjustment can only be made thru trial and error.

Thank you for letting me know. I wont touch the trigger stop screw then. Im aware screwing that in too far will force me to disassemble the entire rifle again. Ill avoid touching it. If i can just punch the pins out to remove the trigger, then thats seems pretty do-able. Thanks again

Many gunsmiths won't even take a BLR apart
