Browning BLR

Any 358Win owner/shooter needs to be a handloader. Factory ammo is hard to find and quite expensive while loading is very easy. Neck up .308 cases to 35cal and you're good to go for brass.

It's a very good and flexible cartridge and well worth owning. 200s for deer hunting and heavier for moose.

.

I have a 20" barrel pistol grip take down model in .308 and it is my favorite rifle. I believe that the 20" models have the best balance and you won't go wrong with .358 or .450 marlin either...And you better be a handloader for .450 marlin also since I believe there are like 2 commercial loads from Hornady and that's it.

If you really want and effective 358 BLR get one of the steel frame ones in 7mm Remington Magnum or 300 Win Mag and have it rebarreled to the 358 Norma Mag. I had it done and I know of some folks in Oregon that have had it done and love it for Elk.

I have owned several BLR's and they have all been good shooters. I recently sold my steel receiver .358, only so that I could get one in .308...this was specifically for the sake of having a "standard" caliber when hunting with my son. I loved the .358 BLR, and I hope to own another.
