Browning boots failure.

I have a pair of Danners that I use for bird hunting. They are lighter and have less insulation. They have served me well, but I noticed today that they have the same kind of foam insert in the sole heel part. They are older boots with more milage and have worked well so far.

I'll wait to see what Browning is going to do. They offered a resole for the ones I have, so that's a a very good step in the right direction.

I have a pair of Danners that I bought from Cabela's in the USA about 10 years ago. There boots have been through Hell & High Water with me, and have logged uncounted miles in the bush and field. They are still going strong, and my feet are still dry at the end of the day, even if I am walking in wet snow or grass. I would buy another pair of these in a heartbeat. I have heard from a couple of hunting buddies that the Hanwag is an awesome boot. Regards, Eagleye
 
I would never buy a pair of Browning boots again. All these boots are probably not made by Browning.... just their name attached to them.

I bought a couple of years ago Browning (Cabela's US) high end insulated rubber boots and after wearing them a few times, I started to notice that my socks were damp when removing the boots. I just took it for granted that it was sweat until this year when my right foot was wet.

I proceeded to fill the boots with water and looked for water leaking out. Would you believe that they were leaking at several places which had been glued such as around the ankles, etc. I will not bother getting them fixed although they still look new. You would fix one spot and a leak would spring out someplace else.

This experience has considerably reduce any confidence in believing that if it has the Browning name, it must be good.

For what it's worth, these boots were worn less than 20 times.

Check out ! Danner Leather( Prospector Hunting boots). I have had a pair of these for over 12 years. They are lined with Gortex and are waterproof .I still put mink oil on them any way. As I wear them in the snow ( up to 12 inches sometimes) every year deer hunting . Putting on one pair of thin socks and my feet don't get cold. Don't know what prices are like nowadays,but I paid around $350.00 and it was worth it . I would buy another pair in a heartbeat.

I have a pair of old Danners that I use for bird hunting. They are lighter and have less insulation. They saved my skin this season with the Brownings going south. I'll probably buy another pair of heavier Danners next yr.

I have a pair of Filson Highlanders that I love. They are the most comfortable footwear I own. The only beef I have with them is the initial price. Although they are in excellent shape after 7 yeas and many miles.
 
On sale $299 the Irish Setters with zipper. Nice light boot that works great until you step into water. My Browning rubber boots cracked after one season. Best boot for the $ is a $24.95 Kamik on sale TSC still wearing them after 3 seasons.
 
Similar failure / good outcome

My hunting partner had a similar failure with a pair of Brownings. They treated him well and sent him a new pair with no greif, and he's been happy with them since.

I like Irish Setters and Daners myself.
 
I have been wearing a pair of Alico mountaineering boots for 10 years now. I probably have put around 1500 km's on the boots and they are still in great shape... and I bought them used from a forestry surveyor!
