Don't know much about Browning's, but I was at CT and looking at their shotguns - this one looked really nice (and not an unobtainable price like the other Browning's). Title of the thread is what was written on the sales tag - by looking at Browning's site, I'm assuming it's this model as it's closest to the description on the tag:

My question: is this a good price or is it marked up just like every other item at my Canadian Tire store? The clerk did say there was financing available, just wondering on the pricing at CDN retailers.

Thanks.

Ive seen people shoot them in all disaplines with no problem. That price is about par nothing amazing. Its not the gun i would recomend and at that price i think there are more suitable guns for close or just a bit more.

Pain in the a$$ on the trap line. Can't load directly into the chamber easily and requires cycling to chamber from the mag tube. Not my first choice and the price is not a deal by any means

Could be wrong on this one so forgive me if I am... I think their dedicated trap guns have some type of magazine cutoff button and are designed to be easier to load singles with. There's a way to ghost-load standard ones too but you have to flip the receiver upside down, definitely gets stupid on the trap line.

Whenever I use mine to shoot trap I mag-load one before getting called (receiver right-side-up) and shuck as I'm shouldering.

I like 30" barrels on my O/U skeet guns, but not on a pump action skeet gun. If it has the same high point of impact as the other Browning trap guns, that is also a handicap for skeet.

I shot 2 rounds of trap with my Ithaca 37 on Sunday, very simple to load the chamber only for singles. Turn one over and look at the design and you will figure it out quick enough. That having been said, depending on the POI, a trap gun wouldn't be my first choice for shooting skeet, generally they are set to pattern too high.

You are not wrong. The traps I have seen will have the cutoff
Cheers

I use a bps in the duck blind. It is a very good gun.Still my work horse. Not sure if it would be my first choice in clay sports. I paid about the same 7 years ago when there were fewer dealers in Canada.

How about a BPS Upland Special? Just looking for a good overall sporting shotgun. I have only shorty black shotguns right now. I like the straight stock on my Henry Golden Boy... Haven't used a bottom load/eject shotgun though.

Back-bored barrels
3" Chamber

Why don't you consider a semi auto like the Maxus or SX-3? Semi autos are a better choice for clay sports, and they produce less felt recoil, which can be a concern if you shoot a couple of hundred shots during one shooting session.

The bottom eject is nice in a blind, not sending empty hulls at your buddy. The tang safety is pretty intuitive also. Loading from the bottom is pretty easy but there are some sharp edges to watch for. A bit of a finger chomper if in a rush

As others have said, it's a trap gun. Also, price seems high for a pump-action... there are better deals around. Anyway, I would not shoot skeet or sporting clay with a pump-action; a S/A or O/U double is far better.
Cheers,
Roger
