Browning BPS pump cycling issue

One more possible cause for the issue. It MAY be a weak magazine spring (unlikely but possible). When two or more cartridges are in the mag the spring is under more compression and works as it should. 1 cartridge can only put so much compression on a spring making the spring action weaker. Generally spring issues are caused by dirt etc. in the tube.

I have seen two cracked plugs in 12ga's which I found strange but that was screwing the feed up also. They had the plugs installed wrong which may have done it

If the problem still persists .check to see that the shell stop and interrupter are working as they should as you cycle the slide with the gun upside down .

Thanks for all the insight. Everything is now clean, can confirm there was oil around the magtube entrance perhaps my error for careless cleaning. Appreciate the tips on the alternate loading method, will give it a try next time I’m able to get out and shoot along with an update if the cleaning resolved the issue.

Glad you got it figured out.

My experience with the BPS is that over time powder/carbon/grunge/lint/pine needles/etc can get stuck behind the interruptor and the shell latch, and oiling the gun can make this gummed up mess even stickier and prevent the travel of the bolt carrier and action bars from fully depressing the latch/interruptor into their receiver slots when cycling.

Unfortunately the only way to effectively deal with this is to remove the trigger group (the easy part), take out the interruptor and shell latch to clean, then make sure the slots they ride in are also nice and clean. Then comes the fun job of getting your bps back together, which once you have done it a couple of times and know the few little tricks is no where near as painful as it will likely be the first time.

Cheers,

Well said but you forgot how many cuts you will get trying to put it back in the first time :(

Ha! For me, the first time I successfully re-assembled my gun it inflicted a ginormous pinching injury on my palm.

I will never forget it. Been working on guns all of my life and this night takes my first 10ga bps apart for a cleaning
4 hours later I am all cut up and freaking trying to get that dam trigger back in and too stubborn to look on the internet for help but finally had to
Now I can do them but have to say by far the hardest trigger to reinstall on any shotgun I have had apart
Cheers

Yeee-ahhh butt, duzz yer safety werk?

I ask a question and you tell me to check it myself, hmm.
I think I see how you got to 11000 posts.

??? That was a question was it Sorry it came across as sarcasm. My apologies
They show how it should go not how it does for most first timers. This is something you have to try not watch on the internet
There does that help and WTF does my post count have to do with anything
What should I say I can see how you have 3?????? and starting on the right foot in an attack mode
Posts count has nothing to do with anything
Cheers
