I'm thinking about picking up a Browning BPS Rifled Deer Hunter. I'd also buy a second barrel, probably a 28" smoothbore.

My questions are these

1) what is the scope mount like? is it sturdy? will it hold a zero? If I remove the barrel will the scope still keep zero?

2)how does the gun function? Is IT sturdy, will it last

Thanks in advance

I have a BPS Hunter model and like it a lot. Receiver is steel, as are all the inside parts. only the trigger guard is alloy. Quality is equal to or better than Wingmaster, much better than an Express. Bottom loading port is large and easy to load. Bottom port keeps water out of the action on a rainy day. BPS deer barrel has a cantilever mount attached to the barrel, so the scope comes off with the barrel, shouldn't loose zero.

Best retail price I have found is at Dantes in Montreal. It would be cheaper to buy the Deer model and add a new or used 28" barrel.

To answer your questions.

1) The mount for the scope is part of the barrel. On my BPS i can remove the barrel/scope at anytime and when i put it back on, my zero is still there. As long as when you remove barrel/scope your not banging it around, you'll have no problems.

2) I have found it to be quite a soild gun. I use my guns for hunting, not safe queens. They take what ever I throw at them. I won't sell my BPS.
