Browning BPS Safety Issue

Another evening of tinkering has fixed nothing. The safety has not been removed but moves freely without the trigger assembly.
To all wondering, yes the gun functioned normally before the trigger assembly was removed.
The assembly was installed in different ways, with and without hammer cocked, with and without bolt carrier under the trigger assembly, with and without safety on, and every combination of the three aforementioned steps.
Thanks for the replies thus far

This has really gotten me perplexed almost to the point of buying a used BPS to see wtf is going on in there lol.
I just watched over the weekend three or four different videos (Brownells being one of them) and not one addresses the safety slide button, hell even the Browning diagrams dont show the disassembly of that slide button.
But, there is mention of a screw like part that either gets turned in or out for adjustment.
Robobear, care to post a pic or two of the inside of the receiver with the guts removed (trigger group, carrier and the shell stops)?
Seriously, it should not be this troublesome.
Rob

Almost impossible for some one to fix this for you over the internet
Some pics of the trigger etc may help. Then at least we may see something that is out of the norm
Cheers

The safety and it's components are very simple. Some models had an adjustment screw later model (98) did not IIRC. The safety works with the trigger group out of the gun. Soooo I feel the issue is with the trigger group and the tab that projects upward to be blocked when the safety is engaged. Something in the trigger group is the issue. Just have to find it. Or what is in the group causing the problem IE broken piece or debris shook loose after cleaning.

If you care to look there are full disassembly and assembly videos for the BPS trigger group on you tube . I agree with madtrapper143 the button moves it full range with trigger group removed the problem should lie with the trigger group . I have an 89 model guess I will have to have look see .

Does anyone else think that firearms should come with stickers that say "There are no user serviceable parts inside."? Like TV's used to?
Take lots of pictures before, during and after deciding to do a "thorough cleaning".
Bike shops pay their rent putting home serviced bikes back together.

The issue has been resolved
The safety slide is held on with a 7mm hex nut. Upon loosening it, there is a set screw inside that can be adjusted for height to block the trigger from being pulled. Reducing the length the screw protrudes from the bolt allows for travel of the trigger when disengaged, but not too short that the safety does not engage
Thanks to all the pitched in

I had a similar experience. And in my case it was simply due to the trigger-lock keeping the tigger pulled. Fixed as soon as I removed it. If your trigger springs back to ready mode there shouldn’t be anything impeding the travel of the safety.
