Just got my first shotgun... :dancingbanana:

And it's NIB Browning BPS 3" chamber, 26" Invector-plus barrel. Comes with 3 chokes. Blued, nice walnut stock. Made in Japan .
I have read lots of reviews and all good so far

If anyone here has an intimate experience with them, your comments would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
G

Hi I recently bought a bps special field with a English stock and i shoot it better than any shotgun i have owned.
you will not be sorry
intimate i love my bps......

Bps is a very well made gun. A little tricky to take apart and clean, but you won't need to do that very often. They are heavy and quite overbuilt compared to some others out there, but it's a matter of opinion whether or not that is a hinderance or a benefit. I never got used to loading from the bottom and not being able slide a shell directly into the chamber(I know it can be done, it's just not as quick as an 870) so I got rid of mine. It is quite well made though and will definitely hold up. Cheers,

Patrick

I have a BPS Upland Special in 20 Gauge, and I think it's the cats a**.
I've never been intimate with it though, worried I would get pinched.

Buddy of mine has one in 3.5 in full camo
he treats it like crap, has put maybe about 200 rounds through it, and has no intrest in cleaning it any time soon
has jammed a few times but it's been due to user error

and he loves the bottom eject cause he'll hold the gun vertically, and fling shells at people

Great guns. Well made, good handling. If you shoot a lot of 3" mags, you'll be very happy that the BPS weighs more than other pumps. That extra heft really helps with big shell recoil. I've always been a fan of blue/walnut myself, so you made a great pick. By the way, the Miroku factory (Miroku makes a lot of Brownings guns) in Japan makes a very high quality product, so nothing to worry about there. Though it would be nicer if it said Made In Canada (or at least US)!

I have the same gun, except 28" barrel, and am very happy with it. It has put ducks, geese and grouse on the table. I am a lefty, so I really appreciate the top-tang safety compared to the Remington 870 that all my buddies shoot.

I have four of them, they are exellent and will last for years never had a jam in one either, after tens of thousands of rounds fired.

Mine is a 28" barrel with a fixed mod choke. Made in Japan (1979). The action is so smooth! The bottom eject is great in the blind!

Bought one for $450? in 1978 when my year old Mossberg died. Used it for 17 years hard with a lot of ducks and geese falling in Ontario. Moved west and introduced a buddy to duck and goose hunting and he borrowed it frequently since I had a few others. Eventually I sold it to him with all three barrels (no invector in those days). He is still using it to this day with out a single failure and looking at the new ones with the invector system of choke changing at the current price of only 100. more than I paid 30 years ago they are great value.
