I know these two pistols have been compared about 36 billion times before so sorry to go over old ground.

I vaguely recall from previous posts that one of these - Browning or Ruger - is a real PITA when it comes to field stripping. Or are they both a real PITA in this regard?

The Ruger people say their 22/45 grip is more or less the same angle as the 1911. If this is even somewhat true, is this a good thing?

Are they both single action?

Is it safe to assume that they are equally accurate?

Thanks again.

i had both, the 22/45 i found to be toy like. i hated the grip on it. so i sold it. the buckmark was good, i like it better. i also have a ruger mk 3 bull barell. i have it still, i think it is more accurate than the buckmark, but then again they are both accurate. the buckmark has nicer grips, in my opinion, go with the buckmark.

MkIII's

I haven't fired the Buckmark, but I have a MkIII and a MkIII 22/45, both bull-barrel Target models and both very accurate and fun to shoot. The MkIII 22/45 is lighter than the MkIII (this may just be because the MkIII is stainless?), and the grip does feel (to me, anyway) sort of like a .45 auto. The only thing that's kind of weird about the 22/45 is the fact that the grip panels are molded into the gun (kinda like a Glock) and can't be changed.

I have the MIII .22 with fluted stainless steel barrel and cocobola grips, the grips fine but the sights are hopeless, the interchangeable coloured plastic inserts do not give a good crisp clear image so will be changing this as soon as posible, other wise its a fine pistol once you learn to strip the dam thing for cleaning.
( I've not attempted this yet )

Don't know about the Buckmark but I find the one piece molded grip on my 22/45 mkiii too thin for my liking.
Field stripping takes some practice but after a few times it becomes a no brainer. I've got the 4.5" Slab side bbl and it shoots real nice for what it is and it seems to like the cheaper Federal bulk pack ammo the best.
I'd suggest installing the VQ extractor (around $10)to eliminate stove piping.

I have Mark III 2245 and I love it, not just because it is a good shooter, but the funny thing is it is so ugly and not user friendly but it make you love it, is it strange? To take this little guy apart is not as diffculit as people said. You gonna try one and you will know why everyone suggest this 4.5"slub barrel.

Stripping

Nobody's answere your original question yet.
The Ruger is generally regarded as the PITA to strip... at first.
Once you've done it a couple of times, it's really no biggy.
On the Browning, you have to remove the rear sight to dissasemble it. Just watch out for the small washers! ;)
I own two Buckmarks and the Ruger MkIII bull barrel.
They are all nice to fire and more accurate than me.
If I was forced to keep one... it would be my "wife's" Buckmark Splash.
Best grips, best sights and very light.
