What can I say: I love shooting 22LR.
Not only because it's cheap (and I can afford to shoot a lot of it) but also because... well, I guess there is that cheap side of me playing a part: Even when I don't reload (yet) I've always felt that throwing centerfire brass to the garbage is a waste, so I always force myself to pick all of it and bring it back home.
Going back to the subject: My present favourite 22LR handgun is a Browning Buckmark Lite. I was coming from a S&W 22A which felt bulky in my hands (the deluxe version, with the wood grips: I have medium size hands) and the Buckmark felt like a globe made specially for me.
Last time I was cleaning it the recoil spring flew away from the guide rode: Either the recoil spring retainer broke or for some reason it became loose.
I was not able to find it (the c ring acting as the retainer).
After some googling, I found that this is not that uncommon on Buckmarks: http://stuthewise.com/browning-buck-mark-22-11-years-of-frustration-ends/
Without that retainer in place, disassembling and cleaning the pistol becomes almost as joyful an experience as going to the dentist.
I was looking on line for a replacement but the only places I could find that carry it are MidwayUSA (http://www.midwayusa.com/product/211460/browning-recoil-spring-retainer-buck-mark-rifle-pistol) and Brownells, both out of stock.
I looked online to see if I could find something similar I can use (c-rings are a common part in all type of mechanical devices) but it seems that most standard sizes are too big and would not work as expected.
I went to Princess Auto to see if I could find something that I could use as a suitable replacement: no luck
I was wondering if somebody would have a good idea for a trustworthy fix besides waiting for that part to be restocked.
Thanks in advance.
