I've had one for about two years now. Its extremely light weight. It shoots well but it is not a target rifle by any means. There have been reports that the Buckmark with the pencil barrel shot better than the one with the target barrel. My best target, benched at 50yds was 1" with Eley Target ammo. My 10/22 (hopped up) out shoots it big time. For the "fun factor" the rifle gets a ten. Easy to hold, fits me well, nice trigger (could be better) and it gets 12 out of 10 just for looks. It really is a pretty rifle and I absolutely love mine. I would definitely recommend it for any kind of shooting other than serious competition/target shooting.
My own Buckmark has had a lot of rounds put through it and it still keeps on ticking. I've never had any kind of failure with it and it cycles most .22 ammo with no problem other than it prefers higher velocity which is typical of semi's.
I heard that the price is now upwards of $700? Is that correct. Its isn't a $700 gun even if its a Browning. I paid $500 for a one year old rifle that was close to NITB condition. I felt that was a good deal on both sides of the transaction.
If you buy one, you won't be disappointed as long as you accept its one shortcoming. Some of the reviews I have read on the Buckmark show it to be a good target rifle. My comment would be that its not an excellent target rifle for serious competition and it doesn't having a large (if any) following of third party parts to hop it up like a 10/22. Your pretty much stuck with "what you see is what you get" but what you see sure is purty and it will be one of the last rifles I ever part with and that's all I have to say on that. Good luck.
