Browning Buckmark Target Rifle issues...

Hi all

Just recently purchased a Buckmark target SHOT Show special 2019. Fitted the Vortex Viper HS 4x16 on it to see what I could get from the gun as it came from factory.
Trigger pull is not good, and it has a lot of creep. Managed to get 1 inch groups at 50 meters using what I had, CCI Minis 36 grs HP.




After 150 rounds I started experiencing difficulties to activate the last shot bolt open latch.
Up to a point where I stopped my shooting session.

Back home I removed the left side grip, only to discover that the latch was over the magazine round pin...

The laminate wood grip on my gun is actually not flat and flexes a lot under the pressure of the magazine spring pushing on the latch which causes it to work '' sideways''...

Anyone ever experienced that problem ?

I have good pictures but don't seem to be allowed to post them...

Needless to say that I'm a bit disappointed. That is a $1000 rifle...

Given the difficulties you are having using the CGN platform, I would suggest having someone else take care the the grip issue.
 
The trigger on my Buckmark is probably the nicest one on a semi auto that I've ever felt. Granted it's the only Buckmark I've ever shot but if I had the same trigger on one of my 10/22's I'd consider myself lucky.
 
Tandemkross in the states sells lots of parts,triggers, the “engine” etc. They ship to Canada but are a bit slow with COVID.
 
I had the same issue on my walnut left hand grip. It was proud of the frame enough that after a couple thousand rounds that after a last shot in the mag the hold open pushed its way out of its slot and actually cracked the grip. I repaired the grip and then sanded it flat and good to go. As far as the trigger goes mine is about 3# and crisp.

My buckmark rifle has a great trigger but has a slide stop release issue.

After firing the last round in the mag, the slide locks back but you can't close the slide easily after reloading. You can't use your thumb to press the slide release because it won't move and you can't close the slide by pulling it back a little and letting it go. To close the slide, you have to first pull the slide back, depress the slide release, and then then let the slide go.

When I took the left grip off I noticed some wear on the frame. The wood grip looks to be warped a bit and does not sit flush.

I just learned to deal with the annoyance, usually will put 100 rounds through then swap to the buckmark pistol which is an absolute tack driver. Nice thing is the mags interchange.

I run the tandemkross gearbox and flat trigger on the pistol, also run a red dot which sits on an Outerimpact rail.

Thanx for sharing your experience. Does yor pistol have the same problem ? I may switch the original grip to a URX grip...

I'm still waiting for a call from Rangeview Sports to solve the issue...
 
I've seen this issue before, ended up gently grinding a very slight angle along the contact point of the release so that it pulls into the frame when it gets caught aswell as bending it ever so slightly to favour the frame.

Grips on that rifle are also super warped and the stock came from the factory with a crack at the tang but it has functioned flawlessly since this mod was done. Stock trigger is great.

Only malfunction I've seen since is failure to fire due to the extractor not quite slipping over the rim which holds the bolt back a hair but still allows the hammer to swing forward, effectively closing the bolt but lacking the energy to drive the pin home
