Looking to purchase Citori Lightning 26" in 20G, can anyone recommend any supporting sponsors/local dealers that carry it? Also, how much money can I save buying it used roughly?

thanks

A lot of the site sponsors carry Browning. Start clicking.

As to how much you will save, well could be a couple hundred or several hundred dollars. kinda loaded question. Not every dealer retails them new at the same price, therefore not every dealer will list used for the same price either.

I've seen used 20 ga Lightning s offered around here (NB) for as low as $999.00 and as high as $1599.00. New ones seem to be around $1800 give or take $100.00, mostly give!

good to know, thanks woolly

A lot of it depends on what you are willing to pay for a used shotgun. If it is as you suggest, "used roughly", then expect to pay relative to the condition.;)

:D good one

Actually, I found great deal through one of our sponsors suggested. This toy will be used to hunt upland but for the most time I want to use it for trap and skeet.

Now here's my dilemma..I've held both and of course 20g feels so much lighter to carry when hiking and hunting upland and shooting skeet. I really want to use it for trap as well. Any opinions on it (20g) for shooting trap (my favorite game). I know through search that this question comes up all the time: "which should I use, 20 or 12g".

I'm defiantly going with Citori White Lightning 26" but..12 or 20..decisions, decisions..

thanks

If trap is your favorite game a light short barreled 20 ga is near the furthest from ideal that you could choose to shoot the game with.
Can you do it anyway, sure you can.

I introduced my wife to shooting using a 20 ga 28" skt / skt at trap. She hit up to high teens with it but with a long barreled Auto in 12 ga she did a lot better.
How many rounds a week or each outing do you really forsee yourself shooting trap ? If a lot you ain't gonna really like it for long.

I'm aiming to shoot trap at least twice a week, 4 rounds each day..

thanks for your input Tim.

I just started to shoot trap two weeks ago, shot an 18 and a 17 with field grade 12 gauges. Then I went to a tournament on Sunday and shot a 23 and a 22 on singles, 15 on handicap, and 31 on doubles. All this was done with my field grade Franchi 20 gauge, 26" barrels and 7/8s ounce loads. I am not bragging as I know it is not a great score, but 91 out of 125 for my first tournament and the "handicap" of using a field grade 20 with light loads makes me pretty happy.

I hunt upland birds behind pointers, so trap for me is practice and training for me so I can be a better hunting partner for my dogs. I don't want to shoot trap with a $10,000 Perazzi or Kreigoff as I would not hunt with them. I will shoot trap with my hunting gun so I will be used to it come hunting season.

I guess what I am suggesting is to shoot trap with your hunting gun, and you will be a better hunter. Thats my two cents!

thanks for a good advice, I'm planning to hunt upland and most likely will practice/play with the same gun.

If you are recoil sensitive, 100 rounds twice a week thru a lightweight 20 may very well lead to a sore shoulder or worse a flinch. If it does not then there is no reason short of competing in ATA not to do just as you want for hunting practise.
If you are not yet doing so, try shooting it gun down and shoot lots of skeet as well to hone the crossers, incomings etc.
For the most fun and hunting practise, I reccommend shooting Sporting Clays(golf with a shotgun!) for the most varied types of target presentations imaginable.

thanks Tim, I've shot both: trap/skeet + sporting clays with my benelli super nova and did not bad. Looks like I've finally decided on a gun..it will be 28" (not 26" :D) 20g Citori White Lightning.
