Looking at picking up a Browning Cynergy. I love the look of a wooden stock, but would like to hear from those with experience with composite stocks.

What are the pros / cons of a composite stock?

I have a composite one with 28" barrels and 3 1/2" chambers. I have used it for both clays and hunting. No problems , highly recommend it . The wood ones are perhaps " nicer " but this one I don't worry about.

Did all my duck and goose hunting last year with a camo'ed cynergy. Major advantage of synthetic furniture...ok to soak the gun in sleet/rain/mud then very easy cleanup. Don't feel as bad dinging it up either.

Cheers,

Brobee

Pros - it doesn't scratch like wood
Cons - it has no place on a mid range or high end over under. Also wood can be bent and shaped to get a better gun fit - synthetic would need shims which limits how much adjustment can be done.

Composite would be way to go if mostly used for hunting waterfowl, nothing to worry about and does not look like hundred years old if hunting in thick brush,on boat or similar geese scenario.if extra lenght of pull is your thing it is the best thing outthere.
With L pad and extra shim like i have it is like shooting 20GA with those 3 1/2" geese shells
Wood look nicer and for upland and clay is kinda more appropriate.

I've been shooting a plastic cynergy sporting for a couple years.

Cons: ugly as a hound dogs a$@

Pros: it can go in a rack or on the sidexside with no worries of it being scratched or dinged.

I'd buy another plastic one just for the piece of mind, no worries about dings. I have 2 classifications of guns, working and looking at. I prefer plastic or laminate on the working guns, and nice wood on the lookers. The lookers do get used, but there is always a concern that they will be marked up.
A nice cote of Crylon will always spruce up a plastic stock, lol.

I've been borrowing a friends wood stock cynergy. I like the gun but also prefer composite guns. I've been checking out the Desert Tan with 3 1/2 chambers. I haven't been able to see one close up as there isn't anyone local carrying one. I'd have to drive a minimum 2 hours to put hands on one, if it's in stock. Is there any members here who have one and would be willing to answer some questions and perhaps show some pics of theirs? If so please PM me. Thanks.

I picked up the desert tan with 28" barrels at the end of last summer. Unlike most I love the design of this gun. I'm a younger guy, none of my friends are into clay shooting, but when they see the Cynergy it makes them want to get into it.

My dealer refered to the desert tan as the entry gun and the cheapest way to get into a cynergy. I got the same fiber optic sight as they have on other models, some extended Diana chokes, and a cast on cheek riser because I'm a lefty. I'm a world away from the left handed 870 I used to shoot.

I love this gun and wish I had the money to pick up a few other composite models.

+1

I have no concerns taking my camo cynergy through the bush to get to my favorite duck pond

All of my guns are wood/blue EXCEPT for the Cynergy in MOSGB. I started waterfowling 6 years ago and purchased the gun in 2013. I hunt nasty weather so I found the synthetic a plus. It will probably be the only synthetic I ever own as it suits my needs just perfect.
