You have got yourself one fine rifle. I have a 59 in 3006, they are accurate, and well made.

The only down side is the ones made in the late 60's? FN bought a bunch of walnut that had been dried using salt. The FN's with these stocks have been known to suffer rust damage from the salt between the stock and the metal.

Browning rifles are the best production rifle made. I have collected them for many years and you don't find them around as much anymore. I have 458 winch, 375 H&H, 7mm Mag, 3006, 22-250 HB

is that rifle stamped Browning on the barrel? It has a FN trigger, safety/shroud, bolt stop and FN floorplate.

As far as quality and reliability, FN and Mauser, what more to say?

That looks like an FN rifle, but not a Browning FN. different parts as noted above and the Brownings had a high gloss lacquer finish. Regardless, it will be a well made rifle. The FN actions were one of the best model 98 Mauser clones ever made.

I was thinking that the rifle stock has been refinished. The forearm and checkering are identical to my original stock.

However as Longwalker pointed out the original finish is a high gloss laquer and this finish looks like it's been redone with tru oil and the butt plate is a recoil pad reather than the old metal plate. As well, I do not see the gold scrolling on the bottom of the magazine door.

Either way it should still be a shooter.

It looks like an FN to me, and I much prefer the stock finish I see on the rifle to the gloss finish that Browning used. Either/or, both were among the nicest rifles ever manufactured, and yours is a fine example.

One Browning rifle that I was associated with in the late 50s, early 60s, had a step down barrel. I notice this one doesn't.

Every FN Browning rifle that I have seen or owned had the step in the barrel. Another reason that I do not think that this one is a Browning.

It looks like one of the Husqvarna rifles that was built on an FN action before the 1600 action was introduced. The FN Browning rifles all had Monte Carlo stocks as far as I know.

Either way, it's pretty sharp looking.

X2, Looks alot like a 50's style FN Husky....love that swept back bolt.....the stock also looks Husky-ish to me. Supposed be a very slick action. Ill find out pretty soon as Ill have one in my hands next week.

The stock finish is factory as you could order whatever you wanted from FN and they would just make it! My 30-06 double set trigger has the fine checking, euro type wing saftey and DSTriggers right from the factory built for European market (brought back from Gremany) These are second to none! I only wish mine was a 9.3x62, cheers Dale Z!

Well, I might as well get in on this one...I'm saying it's pure FN Sporter Deluxe; no Browning involved.

I jacked up my monitor a bit (and applied my magic magnifying mouse), and it looks like it has the little barrel step right in front of the rear sight dovetail - which is the correct size and shape for a 3-leaf sight. Too bad the rear sight is missing, they're hard to find.

It also appears to have the 'ring of beads' in the checkering around the base of the pistol grip.

It has the 'pin release' floor plate; the bottom of the bolt knob is round, and it has the low left-side wing safety (which is my favorite of all safeties.)

They're excellent. I have several, and I'm very partial to them.

The rifle is here now still not still sure what I have.I completed the transfer it is registered as a Browning. It has the FN marking and made in Beligum on it.I bought this rifle with another one I wanted it was buy both or none.I am going to be selling it I would really like to know what I have and an approximate value. There is nothing on it that says Browning. Here are some more pictures any help would be appreciated.
