Browning Gold Light 10

Just an update I went to look at a gold that turned out to bee a sp 10 that sold 15mins before I got there. Thanks for the tips any more would be apreciated. Is the ithaca worth looking at I saw one on ee but thought price was a bit Hi. Thanks again guys

PM sent

I would Stay clear of fixed chokes unless you are going to spend another 250 and send it to briley for tube installation

sk, why run from the BPS? I have no experience with the 10 but the 12 and 20 BPS sure treat me well.

I am a die hard BPS fan, but the 10ga is a club, I was considering one assuming it would handle like my BPS Stalker 3 1/2inch. I have never picked up a shotgun that felt so club like in my life it was like holding a pipe filled with sand.

OP when you are looking at the Ithicas remember they are a first generation 10ga auto and base your price on that. They are worth about 600$ in my book with a good plain SP-10 worth about 200$ more.

As far as chokes are concerned with the Ithicas I'd have no problem fire a limited number of 2's or smaller through the fixed full, until I could save the money for tubes.

I missed a MAG-10 Roadblocker on here years ago for 650$ and still lose sleep over it. Going to add a SXS 10 this year if all goes well, going to have it opened to IM/LM.

My only experience with the 10 gauge BPS was handling one at Ross Faulkner's. I never held a shotgun that felt better to me, honest - fitted me great, even better than my trusty Winchester 1300, except for maybe the forearm being a tad short. But I figured it would kick too much. Still could see myself buying one someday.

I have owned a light 10 for 4 years now. I bought it used and it has been very reliable. It cycles well in cold and harsh conditions. the only thing I didnt like was that the 2 recoil springs in the stock rusted very bad and had to be cleaned guite often, so I installed a surecycle. The gun seems to rust easy around the salt water. Had a bps but seemed long and cumbersome to pump.
I am 5 10 and 190lbs.
I also have a sxs in very nice condition, double triggers and had choke work done M X IM, if turkey slayer is interested.

Just an update guys. I went to the range and tried a buddies BPS. Not impressed. The first time I cycled it ,it ejected the spent round out the side and a live round in my lap and chambered the third. Buddy said that has never happened before/I guess it was a sign. I did not like the fit or the length of stroke I,am 5-10 195lbs and felt inadequate to weild the beast. I got areally good deal on a used gold light (thanks 3macs1 for tip ) I will take it to the range this week and let you know how it goes.

The bps dropping the shell happens and is an easy fix but like you they don't fit me and I am just one inch taller than you but 275 and can shoot mag rifles all day but my dam 10ga BPS beats the crap out of me.Also have a 31/2 12ga BPS and that is fine. Just the 10ga kills me.
On the 10ga gold did you get the real MINTY one with less than a box of shells fired. That gun was as good as new and well worth even the asking price.
Keep it clean and keep an eye on the types of shells it likes to cycle. Yes sounds crazy but it is not. My two hate winchesters especially the earler one and if I want problems and jamming just put some of these in the mag tube.
Pics of yours please :)

yes it was the mint one. came with several boxes of assorted ammo- the only one opened was winchester steel t,s with 8 missing. Maybe thats why he sold it. As for pics I would love to but cant figure this system out-pm me an email and I will be happy to send some.

Cool. That was a real nice 10ga. Congrats . :) Nothing like a 10ga semi. Once you get familiar with it makes a big difference if you spend some time and money to pattern them. I am down to using just three different reloads and two choke tubes :)
