Browning has 3 models in 16ga guns for 2015

Good to see my favourite gauge being offered. Too bad the BPS platform is too long through the receiver to handle well. I know at least it is on a 20 ga frame. Of course a 1/4" off of the stock makes a BIG difference. Hopefully other manufacturers follow suit. The 12/20 bore market is saturated and maybe the makers are seeking out niche markets once more.

Cool Grouser . The 16ga bps upland with the english stock I have handles nice Darryl. I find most BPS never fit me right but it never stops me from buying them ;)

It is built on the 20 ga frame which is designed for 3" cartridges. That makes it unnecessarily long for the 16 bore at 2 3/4". To appreciate the difference compare a BPS 16 gauge to an Ithaca 37 16 gauge. LOP is 14" for both but the BPS requires a loooooong reach for the pump handle. The BPS is a good shotgun but for it to fit most properly a little must be taken off of the butt. It is a perfect fit from the factory if you are well over 6 ft. tall.

Never liked any BPS I ever picked up -- all felt rather 2x4ish. On the other hand model37's and Winchester M12's are the cats meow. With slight preference to 37's

The model 12's have been falling into my lap lately just yesterday a 1936 16ga 2 3/4" mod choke 28"" bbl . Nice little gun. I had s 16ga Citori for a while nice handling gun Unfortunatly I'm a south paw and it had to much cast . I wish they would just make them neutral .
 
Not a BPS fan... fit and handling are terrible for me, as compared to say an older Wingmaster... I am firmly entrenched in 12 gauge for waterfowl (and often wish for more juice) and 20 gauge for upland (and often wish for less juice)... so I can't get too excited for new 16's... but back in the day I really enjoyed them... I would get more excited about new 28 gauge offerings.
 
More 16s means (theoretically) more 16 ammo on the market. I predict few guns sold and ammo flying off the shelves thanks to guys wanting to make sure they can feed the 16 they already have.

Hmmm -- last time they did a production of 16's they couldn't keep up with the demand. The way production is scheduled these days time on the CNC machines are completely booked per gun model.

The 16 is a niche market. But most if not all guns produced sell. Remington made a run of 16 bore 1100's and 870's. Sure they were on the 12 bore frame and heavy but they worked as they should. Try finding one of those recently produced 16's in any guise including the plain jane express, all sold. I would buy a 1100 Classic in 16 bore in a heartbeat but they cannot be found. Canadian Tire always seems to have the good old Federal Field load in 1 oz. offerings in 6 and 71/2 shot (in 16 bore) These are good quality loads and will cover most of the 16's intended use. Slugs are easy to find for deer and I even got some #1 buckshot (recently produced Federal) at my local shop for black bear issues. All in all the 16 is healthy in it's own way. Again, the recent run of Browning Citoris and Auto 5's and the Remington offerings are near impossible to find. Thank the 16 gods that there are always a few good old Ithaca 37's and Winchester 12's out there in 16 on the used market.

I find around here the 16ga guys are 99% reloaders and mostly old farts like me who have had 16ga since kids so have no trouble feeding them other than keeping a stock of usable once fired hulls
It is nice to walk into a store and see them on the shelves however and even though I have a few boxes in the stash still buy them when I see them but lately it has only been the Federals at crapy tire from time to time

I can second with exception of the BPS part, they work for me. I've never seen any need of a 16 gauge. There is a reason they fell by the wayside years ago. I've shot them but never saw any advantage to one over a 20? I think they are just a neat little item to collectors nowadays. I sure don't see anyone out hunting with them anywhere I have gone.

The reason they fell out of the mix was simple. Once they came out of the skeet game they started to vanish but have made a come back in the last 10 years or so .Here we still see quite a few on the hunting scene for sure. I shot my 1st skeet with a 16ga and still have some boxes of AA somewhere
If not for the skeet 4 gun requirement 28ga would have went long ago also which would have made me real sad. Give me a 16 over a 20ga any day but that is just me and many that remember or still use a 16ga

You did not ask for that and I can only read the mrs mind.;) If clay doesn't have one for you Cabelas canada has the 16ga medallion in stock and available on line since I would be suprised if any other supporting dealer would have one
