Browning hi power help

OK,

FEG P9M (HI POWER MK3 clone)

Ammo was american eagle 115gr

the barrels are made in 2 pieces and pressed together or something like that, the barrel and chamber has separated from the barrel link. After looking online have found pictures of other FEG's and Brownings that this happened to also.

Sorry I don't know how to post pictures. but all I want is a new barrel that I am not paying 500 dollars for, if not I might try and sell it and the gun itself is in great shape and I have some extra parts and 4 mags, hope to get 400 for it and pick up an SD9VE and just keep shooting. I can't even seem to find anywhere in Canada buy a barrel?

thanks.

Are you able to post photos of your barrel?

FEG used 2 different barrel types, the Browning HP type which is directly replaceable with a HP and a smith & Wesson style barrel which I am not aware of any compatible replacements.

As far as I know P9M is not the FEG BHP clone but rather FEGs attempt at a BHP look alike with a S/W DA style action. They were produced after FEG lost it's licence to clone BHPs.

Can you post pics? Is the safety on the slide or the frame? Is/was your gun DA?

M

perhaps I am confused about the model, but I can assure you it is the BHP clone not the s&w thing. It does not have the safety on the slide, a browning barrel will drop in, I have tried it. Does anyone know where I can buy a barrel for less than 400 dollars. Also I don't know how to post pictures.

To Post a Pic = Go here --> postimage.org .. Upload the pic... then copy the Second LINK option. Then come back here & Hit the TREE ^ looking icon above here {insert image} & Paste the link in the pop up box. Simple. :D

If all that has happened is that the barrel separated from the chamber lug piece, take the barrel to a smith or good welding shop and get it brazed or silver soldered back into place.

Barry at bitsofpieces.com can make up a new barrel for you but it will likely cost as much as a new pistol replacement.

Google Numrich Gun Parts and look to see if they have replacement barrels. Still, it won't be cheap.

Before I replaced that barrel and lug I would definitely look at repairing it. Unless of course some serious damage has been done.

There may be a warrantee on parts from whomever you bought the pistol from.

FEG used 2 completely different styles of barrel in their single action pistols.

Here are example pictures:

Note, I am not referring to the Double Action pistol.

Bits of Pieces sells EFK Fire Dragon barrels. He should be able to source a barrel for you at a lower cost than from Browning, though it might be a bit of a wait.

Get hold of Questar. They "may" have a spare barrel hanging around. Worth a try. Few years ago they sold a bunch of these pistols, stripped a few as well.
I bought four of the last receiver, barrel combos they had. Used a combo of Inglis and Browning slides to put them back in action. I had no problems with part interchange other then a tight barrel (FEG) and a weak extractor (Inglis) All are good to go and fun to shoot :)

Thread Necro here, sorry for bringin this back to life 3 months later,

Did you ever get this replaced?

I would look at EFK Fire Dragon. They sell conversion barrels an dmatch barrels and what not for the hi power. It will probably cost you as much as the FEG itself did, but parts never are very cheap, and good luck finding another FEG.

I ordered a 9mm conversion barrel from them for my .40 HP. I called them direct. paid direct with my credit card, and they shipped the barrel direct to me from Arizona. I wasn't sure it would work but it went off without a hitch. Customs didn't take it. and there were no shenanigans going on with the labelling. They apparently do it often for Canadian customers. Give them a call and see what they say. I have told a few people who have called them to double check.

It worked for me.
