well After more than a year of collecting and fixing parts my Old hi power has new life. I got the pistol from a friend of mine who owed me some money, so it was a steal really. but the condition it was in wasn't to great. Missing and BUTCHERED rear sight. broken extractor ect ect. here what it looked like when I got it

After tracking down all the parts I finally had a functional and reliable pistol, except for one thing, NO REAR SIGHT!
So my Dad and I headed to the garage found a few small scrap pieces of steel and started welding and filing and welding and filing and dremeling. It was a tad rough but neither of us are gunsmiths and it was an experiment that went right! after a few range trips and some more filing and dremeling it was now sighted in. Looked like this

All that was left was to send it away to make it pretty again, and a MASSIVE thanks to the men and woman at ARMA-COAT it came back looking better than ever!! and here is the final product, along with all parts I replaced. Which grips do you guys like better?

Looks great. Glad to help you out and make the old girl come alive again. The manganese looks good in contrast with all the small parts being Nitron finished. I never thought the sight was custom made when working on it, great work!!

The little cross pin on the trigger for the magazine safety is in just the right place on many HPs to be a perfect trigger stop. No long travel after the sear releases. And there is on empty hole on the trigger asking questions.

The pistol never came with one, but I prefer it this way. I like being able to drop the hammer and fire the pistol without a magazine inserted

Keep it that way. The mag safety in nothing but a PITA. Trigger usually improves by removing it too.

Nice job!!

Since no-one else has answered your question, I'll state that I prefer the Hogue wrap-around grips. I do not own a Hi-Power but I put Hogues on both my CZs (well, one old CZ and one Norinco NZ) and they made a world of difference.
