I posted this in the Milsurp thread earlier but then started wondering if it didn't belong here. I'm not sure how much cross traffic these two sub forums get.

I recently bought this shoulder stock from a fellow nutter. BTW he was very up front in saying he wasn't sure what it was or what gun it was for. The price was right so I decided to take a chance on it being one of the Chinese knock offs made a few years ago for the Inglis Hi powers.

It came today and unfortunately it does not appear to be intended for the BHP. The attachment part on the stock that is intended to slide into the female slot in the pistil's grip is too narrow (or the pistols slot is too wide) and the two won't stay together. Also a BHP won't even come close to fitting into the holster cut out. The holster slot is wide enough but way too shallow. The Inglis won't go down in much past the trigger guard. I do see a round cut out about a inch in diameter extending down from the bottom of the holster cut out. It looks like it would be big enough around to fit a barrel and foresite.

Given the above I wonder if this might have been intended for a Broomhandle Mauser? I also thought about an Artillery Luger but I tried my P-08 in the holster part and the frame by the toggle and safety was too wide to fit down in. Also, is the attachment point from a stock on a Luger's grip female or male? This stock would require a slot cut into the pistols grip.

I'm 99.99% sure this is a Chinese repro of some type..... the wood finish is decent but the metal seems kind of cheap. Anyone know if they were made for C96 Mausers as well as BHP's? Anyone recognize this stock or have any idea of what gun it's for?...Thanks

Don't know what it fits, but I did once own a Star Model B pistol with a shoulder stock, which looked very much like this.

It used the usual T-shaped rail fitting and bottom catch like yours.

The shoulder stock pictured here is possibly for a Star model A. Couldn't find a Model B stock.

I know the last reply was back in March, but I came across this thread while searching for
Inglis Browning Hi-Power. My father passed along a 1945 Inglis Hi-Power and had picked
up a stock with a leather shoulder harness that looks identical to the one the OP was
inquiring about. While not an authentic original issue stock, it is a well made knock-off and
does fit the slot on the grip of the Hi-Power. It's possible that the catch needs work in
order to fit properly and secure the grip.

So, just to update this old thread....Thanks to a tip from a fellow nutter I finally tracked down a shoulderstock for my Chinese contract Inglis BHP at a Switzer auction a few months ago. It's SA marked but with no "Made in Canada" so I guess it never got sold to the US. The fitting and finish of the metal makes me pretty confident it's not a Chinese copy. Took a while to find and it wasn't cheap but I'm glad I persevered.

Looks like the real thing. I've owned a few original stocks like that one. Just looked at the auction and saw the final bid of $450 + 15% fees + shipping and tax... Ouch! Over $600 is darn expensive for what it is, feel bad about selling the ones I had for $150 a piece 8-10 yrs ago, I thought I did really good back then.

Yeah, it stung a bit but they were selling north of $500 USD on Gunbroker at the time and in the final analysis I wanted the stock more than I wanted to keep the money.;)
I had posted a WTB on here for a couple of months without any results so they aren't exactly readily available

Anyway, it was an auction so by definition that was exactly "fair market value" on that particular day.
