1944 and 1945, made at the Inglis plant in Toronto. Located just west of Strachn Ave, North of Lakeshore.

Yes, and yes. All Inglis pistols, regardless of type, were built in 1944 and 1945.
The Chinese mutual aid ones were the first ones built, and the reason why Inglis started making them in the first place.

Go with the MkIII... I've got one in .40 S&W and one in 9mm. I liked the 9mm so much I sold my CZ75!

OK, one more BHP question...

The Browning site lists three current models:

The Standard, the MKIII and the Practical. Are all three of these "MKIII" type BHP's, just with different finishes, sights, etc? :?

Thanks, Jeff/1911.

NAA, go ahead and admit it. What? The BHP MKIII 40 S&W is the softest shooting 40 S&W made. Racking the 40 S&W version of the BHP is a little harder than a 9mm but that is the only negative I can think of. Regards, Richard :D

Factory adjustable sights

So, how good are the factory adjustable sights on the Browning Hi Power MKIII "standard" models? If I buy a new pistol, I am thinking now that I might opt for the adjustable sights...the gun looks nice with them on it. Alternately, I could go with the fixed sight version for now and if I decided I really wanted AS's later - add some aftermarket Millet sight or other kind... According to the WS website, it's $70 more with AS's.

Your thoughts, esteemeed shooting brethren? Jeff/1911.

I have replaced 5 front sights on my Mklll because they sheared off.

The front sight is way too high.

I'm waiting for my HiViz sights to come so that it can get back in the game.

Te last one sheared off at the Quebec Provincials. Here is a pic of the hasty repair.

Go fixed, as I said before. If you decide you want adjustable, you will want to have the slide machined as there isn't much selection for the stock dovetails.

RePete.

Repete,

Oh boy...I see what you mean. Thank you for the clarification about your earlier suggestion.

I'm now looking at a Standard model (I like the polished blue look) w/ fixed sights!

Thanks again, Jeff.

Buy the brand new style browning HP(civilian) with the new style extractors. You will have better luck with a waranty on your pistol & they are a cheaper prce than most pistols!!
