Browning Hi-Powers too expensive?

Does any one else think that new Hi-Powers are too pricey... I'm looking for a new metal frame, 9mm, hammer fired pistol.. I like the idea of a Hi-Power but I have a hard time with the fact they cost a couple hundred more than a CZ75 shadow or a STI spartan...

And the second hand market seems like a sellers market for sure..

CZ or Tanfoglio get my vote. Lots of gun for the $$$ spent.
 
I wanted a Hi-Power for a long time, and the price of new ones was too high for me all that long time. Eventually I would have budgetted for it, but fortunately a nice used one that was within my price range showed up first. I like it as much as I hoped I would.

i always wanted one. i just wonder what kind of pistol it should be considered like....is it deadly accurate like a comp pistol is?? is the slide/frame/barrel assembly very tight like a comp pistol is or is it just another service pistol good for the range??

trader ex has couples in .40 listed for a descent price...

Long times ago, I really want a Sig 226 as my 9mm gun as they shoot pretty good, but after shot a couple of HP and CZ, sig is no longer in my book. Many LE have been use HP as sidearm. HP was very carefully engineered to fit everybody's hand, I meant everyone is no matter you have big or small hand, you won't found problem to handle the gun. beautiful outline and smooth finish make this gun stand out. It is not a dealy accuate comp gun but is a joy to handle and shoot. If you ask which gun has the smoothest action, many people will agree a HP is the one. To hunt down a good used one is my daily task but there are always some other stuff burn my pocket.

I have one, it's a nice Browning (the man, not the company) design. Well, with a little help from a French designer. I don't think it's a better gun then say, a CZ (had one of those for a while too, sold it as I rarely used it). But it is a comfortable gun to shoot, accurate for a factory semi auto pistol (more so then any Sig I've owned, but then I haven't got a 210 yet). FWIW - dan
 
BHPs aren't really out of line in terms of pricing compared with offerings from SIG or HK, to name a couple examples. They aren't the cheapest pistol in their class on the market, but they aren't the most expensive, either.

Within reason, I wouldn't get too hung up on purchase price. Get whatever works for you and the cost difference will be small when factored over the several years it should last you.
 
Just get a CZ and cut the web of your hand half way through shooting if you want the HP experience. :nest:
A buddy has an old unmodded BHP and it cuts my hand every time I USE it, needs a beavertail. I'm not a fan despite liking the 1911 but it could be due to the constant pinching.... I'd try a cz, heard lots good about them too.
 
I've shot the BHP a fair bit in the Reserves (i'm holding two in my avatar picture from CFSAC). I'm used to them and I like shooting them, but I agree that they're pretty over priced. granted, the kind I shoot is now a collector's item and i'd love to have one one day. I own a CZ-75 SP01 and i love it.. i wish i could use it as my sidearm in the reserves, but that's a big no-no! I'd pick my CZ or a Sig 226 over the BHP, but there are worse things than a BHP to get issued.
