Browning High Power

I understand this Hi Power can be bad for Hammer Bite .
We have not shot it as yet
Do you just learn to grip it correctly ?
Change out the hammer as I understand you can do that ?
Anything else ?
The hammer bite is a real thing, particularly if it has a spur hammer. Even the later models with the corrected "bobbed" hammers will strike the web of your hand. Note the geometry of the hammer as opposed to the beaver tail. Both High Power hammer designs have the hammer extending beyond and below the beaver tail. If you're holding the gun properly, you're going to get bit.

They bobbed the hammers for good reason, those gawd damned things draw blood...from the one doing the shooting!

Thanks for posting Painkillers . I guess one might need some PAINKILLERS after a few hammer bites ,LOL 😂

I did some quick searches and I guess you can change out the hammer ?
P.S. You sure have a solid chunk of metal in your hand with that piece
Hammer swap would require gunsmithing.

The bite isn't bad. It won't cause flinching like a heavy recoil rifle. If worried wear gloves.

I’m thinking as mentioned grip is important to prevent hammer bite
So that’s muscle memory
Yep, 100%.
I have many hand guns, and aside from revolvers, I grip them all the same...I have to. I can't have in my head "okay, the browning I have to grip low, the 1911 I grip thusly, the Glock..." Handgun marksmanship is hard enough without having to mess about with your grip based on model.

If you can just swap out the hammer with a bobbed drop in one, do it. I have a bobbed Tisis one like the top pic, and the hammer does come back and taps the web of my hand, every time I touch a round off but it's just a tap as opposed to the spur tearing skin. There are weird beaver tail models...but they're just weird looking and I view them as the wrong solution to the "problem".
