Browning HP SFS Trigger System

Any opinions on this system? I can't seem to find anything with the search function. Seems that it would be more parts and more potential for breakdown? Read that article at highpowersandhandguns about it though. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Here is some info on the SFS system. It's basically a system that adds 5 extra parts, when you load the pistol you push the hammer forward and the safety automatically engages. In an article that I can't find, I recall that somebody had fired 15K rounds with excellent reliability and no unusual wear on the parts. Keep in mind that the SFS system can be easily converted to the traditional SA. By the way, TSE has one for sale in the dealer section.

I was reading about these a few days ago as I was considering purchasing one myself. Overall, the reviews weren't too bad. The only things I would be wary about is that apparently one of the control levers (the safety maybe? I forget which one...) is made of plastic. Also, the takedown/stripping is apparently super easy. So much so, that the article's writer had some concerns that the takedown pin could possibly be drifted out just by something pressing against it forcefully (yes, with the slide closed). I don't know if these are actual issues with this model, and I haven't actually seen one in person yet, so this could all be horse puckey for all I know. In any event, after reading the article that pointed these things out, I looked to see if FN still produced the standard HP's in 9mm (without the SFS). Unfortunately, it looks like they've discontinued production of the standard 9's and only make them in 40cal now...

I bought one and like it. The system is a bit goofy but is a conversation piece on the firing line. No difference that I was able to research between the FN SFS and a regular Browning mkIII HP. FN is dumping the SFS's (see CDNN's catalogue) was because they were trying to get into the law enforcement market. Carrying relatively identical pistols under two different banners apparently "confused" the marketplace, so they pulled out the FN.

Note the SFS's are entirely Belgian manufacture, unlike the Browning which is assembled in Portugal, if that makes really makes any difference.

TSE's price for a new HP with 3 mags is a good deal on a great pistol.
 
Read the article, seems like it is okay. Would I go out and get one? No. I just do not see an advantage for what I am doing with my Hipower. The plastic pieces don't really impress me. I like my Inglis just the way it is.
 
SFS kit

I know cylinder and silide sells the kit in blue steel, stainless steel, and hard chromed. I'm not sure, but I don't think the parts that come in the FN Hi Power SFS are plastic.
