Browning Medilist light primer strikes

Have problem with misfires, light primer strikes, with Browning Medalist. Have dis-assembled slide, cleaned firing pin bore, new firing pin. Problem persists. After carefully observing releasing slide, note that there is a slight gap between slide and barrel. If barrel mounting screw is left loose, then slide fully contacts barrel. Even a slight tension on screw seems to cause binding. Anyone encounter this before? Can't see an obvious reason this should happen, or method to overcome.

Maybe your action is flexing when you tighten the screws , should be able to fix it by doing a bedding job
