how hard is it to find a browning mod 92? were they ever made by browning in 44-40?

i have heard that you cannot fire 44 spec in the mod 92 browning, is this true?

They were .357 or .44 Mag.

Never heard of one in .44-40 unless it was a custom.

Not sure about .44 Spl in the .44 Mag version but the one I had in .357 Mag would hang up if you were shooting .38 Spls out of it and you were not careful to give the lever a complete throw when ejecting the fired casing and chambering a new one.

If you were in a cowboy action match and it jammed you were out of that session as it was impossible to get the jammed .38 casing out without tools.

You likely can shoot .44 Spls out of the .44 Mag version but I woud hazzard to guess at the same peril as .38's out of the .357 Mag version.
 
I love my .357 Browning B92, but as said previously you need to use .357 brass to get it to work flawlessly.
