I have a chance to buy a like new Belgian made Browning Nomad .22. The blueing and finishing is beautiful. Is it a good shooter and collectable ? I need some inputs. Thanks.
 
The Browning Nomad is one of the three classic Browning .22's from the 1960's and early 1970's, the others being the Challenger and the Medallist. All three were basically the same pistol, with the biggest differences being in the finish and the included barrels, and I think that the Nomad may have had an alloy frame, although I'm not 100% sure. The barrels can be easily swapped between the three models if you can find one (maybe Wstern Gun parts?). You can date the pistol at Browning's site here. As for collectability, they're not really uncommon so while they're very nice I'm not sure they're super collectable. They are definitely good shooters--I picked up a 1962-vintage Challenger in the EE last month and it's a great shooter.
 
Agree with Master-G's comments with one clarification: the Nomad has a steel frame. Unlike the Challenger and Medalist I believe that all or some of the Nomads do not have a lock open feature on an empty magazine.

I recommend purchase of the pistol if the price is anywhere near reasonable.
The Medalist, Challenger, and Nomad were all made in Belgium in the glory days when hand machining and fitting were the way pistols were produced. They are entirely reliable, accurate, and a joy to own and shoot.
