Remingtons are OK.......... BUT ............ not one of the options listed!!:p:D Good suggestion on the McMillan or Bansner though.:)

Even if Rem was one of the choices, I'd still take the M70.

I'd pass on the Browning and new Winchesters aren't available yet, thus the Rem suggestion.

CRF is not a bad option for a DGR, but a PF works equally well for deer and such. :)

You are right on all counts, of course.

The M70 offers more than just CRF, IMO. I like the simplicity of the design and the ease that it can be 'field stripped'. The extractor is great, even if it weren't CRF, the ejector is dead simple. The 'old' style cantilever trigger was genius, for a hunting rifle. 3 position safety........ just adds up to be a great package + CRF.

All IMHO, of course.:)

All that said, I do like my M700s too. And they both, M70 and M700, can stand some improvements/tuning out of the box.
 
M70 hands, feet, head, hands, and any other appendage down!!!!
I can't wait to get my hands on ANY of the new offerings. I dont care what model it is as long as I get my caliber. They friggin rock this time around.
 
I own a Winchester Coyote Lite in a 270 WSM and it's an awesome rifle. Its unfortunate they don't make that model anymore. I've own Browning in the past and their a great rifle too. Both have unique features and with that being said, I'd base your decision on the features you want.
 
Really depends what you'll be using it for. If it is to be a dedicated mountain rifle, the weight saving on the X-Bolt is a consideration. Having shot both rifles a fair bit, I prefered the M70 but I wouldn't hesitate to add an X-Bolt to the collection....oh ya, I've got one ordered. The removeable clip vs drop floor plate on the X-Bolt is a real plus too. The M70 is a fair chunk of change more too.....X-Bolt is sounding better all the time.
