Hi Folks,
Took this Browning Bar ? on trade, don't know much about it. It's chambered in 30-06
Looked on Brownings site to try to date it by serial number but had no luck.
Previous owner said he thought it was at least 30 years old, says " Made in Belgium" on the barrel
Serial number reads 97594M69, located on the reciever, on the right side of the gun.
Anyone have any info or ideas where I can look ? any idea of value ?
Thanks for looking everyone

It is a Grade II BAR, in excellent condition it is worth maybe +/- $800 without the scope. Regular Belgian BARs in .30-06 seem to go for ~$600 - $700.

Thanks guys, the wood is really nice in real life, has lots of depth to it. I read somewhere that its French Walnut, only put on the earlier ones (pre '77) and that allthough all of them are marked " Made in Belgium", the ones made after '77 are assembled in Portugal...for whatever difference that makes.
I cant make heads or tails of the serial number from the info on Brownings website, be nice to know how old it is.
The previous owner said he'd be surprised if there's 40 rounds fired through it. No matter what it is, it's very nice and I'm happy to get it.

i have the exact same gun. Mine has the same style of beautiful walnut, steel is 99% and so is the wood with a minor blemish in the for end. I paid $1000 and that's top end in my opinion. Have to say though, out of all the bars I have seen for sale on the site in 3 years, I have seen less than a couple like ours. They are sweet. I'd imagine its worth closer to a 1000 but would be hard to sell it for that price, i had to have it when i saw it....

Thanks everyone, appreciate all the good info, it's a really nice one, I just love the wood on it.
I may have to sell it but I hope not. I could see keeping this one for sure.

Not sure now but before winchester and browning joined forced I just called them and they gave me a date on my 1923 A 5. I couldn't believe it. I was expecting the give us your info and we will get back to you but they gave me answer right away.
