Browning Safari bolt action - What bases and rings to get??

I am acquiring a Browning Safari in 243. It obviously has the Sako action and a medium heavy barrel. Any good sources for Conetrol in Canada? I don’t think Leupold makes standard based for these guns. The gun already has weaver bases but I was thinking of swapping them out for something jazzier. Thanks.

If you're set on Conetrol mounts, contact them and ask if they will ship to Canadian addresses. The link below shows a similar rifle that has what appears to be a Redfield JR base; perhaps Leupold has a duel dovetail that will match the hole spacing of your rifle.

Thanks Boomer. I have exhausted the leupold site searching with no avail. They only make bases for the FN actions 264 to 458. Ceneteol would be an expensive route that I don’t want to take but would look really good. Maybe I should just keep the weaver bases and get period correct weaver rings. In fact, I have a pair here. Woohoo.

That's what I would do. An old purple Leupold 3-9 would be perfect on that.

I've always thought that for a hunting rifle, Weaver bases have always been under rated and their rings have ranged from really bad to really good as well as everything in between over the years!

I’m going to try and go with a 4.5 - 14. They are scarce in gloss though. It’s going to be fudding awesome.
