I’m trying to find a Browning Safari (with the Sako action) in 284 Win. Not an easy find. A friend of mine has one in 243, with the pencil barrel. Very nice looking rifle! Very light. I have heard some say these “Browning /Sakos” were maybe the best mass produced bolt rifles out there. Of course, everyone has an opinion. Just wondering about people’s experiences with them. Imagine they are very accurate rifles. Like to have one in both 284 and 243.

I own 4 of them. A 30-06 medium weight, and a .222 Rem, 22-250, and a 243 in heavy weights and they are all tack drivers. I shot a 4 shot 1/4" group with the 222. Would have been 5 but was so excited I pulled the last shot. They are my favorites by far.

That 284 is a rare bird and likely wont be cheap. I believe there was one on here in the EE but it was quite pricey. I keep trying to convince myself to get that 300 H&H on the EE.

I didn’t see the 284 on the exchange. I know a collector friend of mine just picked one up - like new - likely same gun. I don’t know what they go for up here, but they didn’t make many, so I know if I ever find one, it won’t be cheap. I saw that 300 H&H on here, beauty. Not sure how you haven’t convinced yourself yet!
