I was almost gonna go for the Shortrax when some said "why not go for a Benelli instead, the prices have come down on them"? Which one would you choose and why? The cartridge of choice is either 308 or 7mm-08. I want a quality light weight s/a hunting rifle with some class and coolness! ;). I'm not sure, but I think the LOP on the Browning is shorter, and the shorter the better for me. But maybe the Benelli can be shortened to suit me. Thanks in advance for any help in helping me make up my mind.

Won't find a Benelli on 7-08 or 308 anyways. They used to make 308's but I haven't seen one in a long time.

Both great rifles.

Try them out,and see .I have both guns, but the Benelli is not in 308.Good luck with it Two-Dogs..Drillbits post, I have to say the same.

yeah, I packed a lunch and ventured into the murder capital today, Cabela's was like a Cabela's in the USofA, parking lot was jam packed full as was the store! I took a number and waited in line for almost an inturnatey. I got to git to hug a used Longtrax walnut in 30-06, oh so sweet, but I want a Shotrax! Then I kissed a new Benelli black gun over at WSS in 30-06, sweet too, but I want a short action! The Benelli was a tad heavier. Looks like I will hafta go with a Browning! Hey, I'm not frowning! Don't get me wrong! A walnut stock Shortrax in 308 will give me a big big woody for a long long time! Now, I just gotta save up, maybe sell a few guns, and find a dealer with one in stock! Clay, are you listening? It will be a while, but do let me know! And thx a mill for that beauty X-Bolt that arrived yesterday!

If you're going short-trac and want a fully detach mag, a wichester sxr sa mag will work in a shortrac. You can also drill out the stopper and they hold 5 instead of 4. (can't insert 5 on a closed bolt though)

I have both too, and I hunt with the Benelli (because it fits best), but take the Brownig to the range (more accurate on paper). Both function great and have used them in -30C several times.
