Hi,

I found this at my local today for sell, since I have read a few story behind this and never seen one in mint condition like that so I grab it there was a guy offer me 600 $ after I bough it. Let me quote the history from pafoa board by 1blindref.

In 1976 Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft (SIG) introduced what would become the P220. It was manufactured by Sauer.
It was the first model of the classic "P" series Sigs. It was originally chambered in 9mm and then later in .45acp and .38 Super.

In 1977, Sig Sauer contracted with Browning to import the gun. It became known as the Browning Double Action or BDA. Browning imported these guns until 1980, when Sig decided to import them into the US on their own.

SIGARMS was established in the early 1980's, first in Tyson's Corner, Virginia and then a few years later in Herndon, Virginia. They moved their operations to Exeter, New Hampshire in 1990.

It's chambered in .45acp and it looks to be fired very little (maybe only factory test fired). It is an interesting gun as it says "Browning Arms Co., Morgan Utah & Montreal PQ" on the left side of the slide, and "Sig Sauer System, Made in W. Germany" on the right side of the slide. Three countrys on one gun!

The gun is exactly the same as a P220, only the finish on the flats of the slide is much nicer.

So though I would share it here :

I had the original SIG P220 in .45 with the heel mag release. Bought it new for $430 in 1986 at Lever Arms. Most accurate .45 I ever shot. Loved it so much that I never to this day bought a 1911 which was my first love in handguns! Then I traded it for an AR which got restricted and I ended up selling that too! Verrrry sad! You have a fine pistol there and pleeeeeze don't sell it!!

Consider how much I pay for so I probably keep her but switching primer on my XL650 is pain in the a**, it would be a good excuse for me to look for a new press.

Well worth the effort if yours is anything like mine!! I was so grooved in mag changes with that heel release that I still reach for my empties now when I eject the mag with the thumb release!! I never drop a mag on the ground which really screws up my times!! LOL! You will feel the quality of the BDA when you take it to the range! Used to reload 185gr swc with 4.3-4.6 gr of 231 powder. Could do 5 pins at 7yds in 5 secs. Thanks man!! Now I really miss that gun again!!

To person who PM where I bought this, it was from an old timer at my shooting clube l'acadie.

The quality of this pistol is outstanding, way better finish than a Sig P220 which I saw at my local store. What sold me the most is after the owner let me put 5 rounds through her, it was sold after that. You can't believe how childish I act after that 5 rounds, man best moment for this afternoon.

Told you, told you, told you!!!! The BDA has a blued finish if I'm correct and the SIG is parkerized. KND, you have brought up memories I have suppressed for almost 25 years!! Now I need a therapist!! And here's the sad thing... i currently own a Grman 220 but not the heel release original!!
