browning sliver active valve question

I have shadow grass sliver and have been using it for skeet. seems to be working 7/8 oz loads but was extremely dirty and started jamming. haven't got back out with it since a good cleaning but I read online that the sporting sliver has two gas pistons is this something I could change to shoot lighter loads or if its not broke don't fix it come into play LOL

Give the gun a good cleaning and continue on . I am guessing your 7/8 oz load is a hand load and your not getting good pressure for a clean burn of the powder . you might try bumping the powder charge up if possible or a different powder .
 
Yup they ate a hand load with clays powder. I'm not loading to the max so maybe ill give those a try also. I gave her a good cleaning now to get back on the skeet field!
 
IF your gun was only supplied with one gas piston then it is most likely a field only piston not a target or light load piston. My SX3 has the same system and my 3.5" gun with the standard field piston in the manual states, will cycle 1 1/8 oz target loads to heavy 3.5" loads. I have shot 1 oz loads with no issues. So you might just have to load heavier.
 
Like your Silver, mine only came with one gas piston because the active valve system is supposed to be able to cycle every load with the same effectiveness. However, I have found that mine will fire all the usual big box ammo target load (winchester, federal, etc.) but the crappy tire Rio brand stuff will not cycle it reliably. Some of them would eject but not lock the bolt back, some of them would not even cycle the bolt the whole way and would just get re-chambered. I stopped firing those after one box and now only shoot Federal or Winchester - whichever is cheaper.
