So I have a chance to pick on up, at this time I don't know the details but it is in good condition. I'm pretty ignorant about shotguns so go easy on me here. Is this primarily a trap gun? How would it be for ducks? I know nothing about these things, although I have gone duck hunting with a borrowed semi-auto Baikial.

As advised above, however no Browning Superposed shotguns are rated for steel. Lead or no-tox shot only ! Some may advise steel can be used if the chokes are mod or looser, but the Supers have quite thin barrels and are soft soldered. Too much steel can cause barrel or rib seperation etc.

I agree with Planemaker, you will wreck a super shooting steel through it,Browning tells you that. Besides, why would you take an old classic like a superposed out goose huntimg, thats exactly what you want an auto for.

Depending on condition,if you buy it right, you may have a really fine lifetime shotgun to play clays games with and upland hunting.

As I said, I'm ignorant in the shotgun department. Good to know about no steel, so no ducks then. Do people hunt upland with a 12 gauge?

Edited to add: The chokes are fixed full/mod.

Yep, gauge like many things with a gun, becomes a personal choice. Of course you often get a lighter gun with a smaller gauge which is nice for carrying in the field. However, there are some light 12 gauges out there just as some of the subgauges are heavy. You have to pick and choose to what suits you.

The only reason that I'm thinking about this is that it from the estate of an older gentleman that passed away this fall and it would be nice to have something of his.
