Browning T-Bolt seized up

I got the safety to move up and down, the bolt toggles into place, but the sear won't engage or something as it won't ####.

I've pulled the trigger and it won't go "click."

And I hate to admit it, but I've basically ruined the slot in the forward action screw even though the rear miraculously released yesterday. But it was only a wood screw. I'll bet the forward one fits into the receiver.

I'll talk to my auto mechanic pal tomorrow at happy hour down at his shop. He's a hunter/ gun owner. He'll have an idea on how to extract that front screw.

UPDATE:

My auto mechanic was able to free the stuck action screw with a big hammer, a cold chisel and a big screwdriver. The forward action screw was rusted in place.

Once the action was out of the wood all I had to do was wipe a bit of a gob of rust off the safety to get it moving freely and the rifle functions now.

I'll have to take it out when I go bear hunting and shoot it.

This is a better idea. This will work when nothing else does; grind the bit to fit; tap with a hammer; forward and backward until screw starts to move, then use a regular screwdriver, or keep tapping to remove if still tight:

It's pretty obvious you have never had one of those tips shatter and gouge up the work, then. Great tool for working on old trucks and crap like that. I have a couple of them.

A proper fitting screwdriver, held securely in alignment, with control over the torque applied, is THE answer for about 90 percent of all stuck screws.
A decent drill and an assortment of extraction methods take care of the rest if they will not comply otherwise.
