Hey guys,

I've got a pump 22lr that is in really poor condition. I got it from a friend that looks like they had it sitting in a closet for the better part of 30 years. The wife (was the husband's but he passed away) didn't know the last time it was fired and I haven't fired it either yet. She is looking to sell it and wanted to give me first dibs on it but I'm wondering what something like this would be worth. There is no rusty but the stock has been beat up pretty bad and the action is really grainy. Rifling looks alright but you can tell its been fired heavily. I can posts some pictures if it helps out but I've seen these go from anyway in the $350-1500 range. The $1500 was new in box and was sold at an auction. Any suggestions on how to proceed with this thing?

Tough to say without seeing pics of it, but from your description, I wouldn't pay anymore than the lowest price you have mentioned. Sounds like it's nothing more than a "shooter" - once it's been taken apart and cleaned up. I have one that belonged to my dad - it's closing in on being 100 years old and it's mint - has always been well taken care of. They're a very nice, solid, smooth rifle - but I don't think they're anything special - other than mine, of course.

Obviously, not the OP's piece, but in the interest of providing pics, here's the same model he's talking about. It was 15-20 years old when I was born - and I'm 75. First gun I ever shot, when I was 5 years old.

That is some serious Provence for a very classic p/a trombone.
But, we still need pics of the Op's firearm ;)

Rob

Just saw it on YouTube tonight. Looks perfect for plinking cans off of a fence rail! Also reminds me of the carnival guns that would shoot corks (yes, I'm that "young")
