I am in the market for a good used semi auto. I Like the Gold/SX2 & Silver/SX3 line of shotguns. It seems a lot of the ones I see used are 3.5 which I have no need for but would consider if they reliably cycle target loads. Anybody have any experience?

Have three of the four in 3 1/2" no silver but the rest shoot 1oz target loads no problem . Have not tried any 7/8 in them.
3 1/2" you may not need but if you decide to sell down the road it holds more value and sells much quicker than a 3" especially a camo one

i have a browning gold 3 1/2" that's a few years old and cycles everything i put through it and has never had a hicup from light target loads to heavy turkey loads. same can't be said for my buddies remmy 11/87 in 3". seems to jam every once and awhile with second and third shot no matter what kind of load he's using.

Thanks for the info so far. I really like the maxus as well but I think it is out of my price range unless I can find a excellent deal on one. What would you guys consider the average price for one of the 3.5 semis I listed in used excellent condition?

There was a sweet gold stalker 3 1/2" in the EE just a few days ago for 800 if I recall and new x3 win camo are going now for 1099 plus taxes of course

Lebaron has the black Maxus Stalker 3.5" for $1265.00

I picked up a 3" Hunter for $1195.00 at Shooters Choice in Waterloo.

Does anyone know if the 3" Gold has the mag cut off or is it just a 3 1/2" thing?

I don't follow the 3" ones since mine are 3 1/2" but to my knowledge no only the 3 1/2" with the exception of a limited edition run of 3" with the new squared off style receiver. Those had it.
I will be quickly corrected if that is worng:D

Well 3macs1 it may as well be me as someone else :) .yes the 3" gold models had the mag cut off if it is a hunting model gun .on the browning site you can look up what they call historic firearms or models they have discontinued .

Cannot find the info on the site Lloyd other than their reference to all 3 1/2, Fusion and Evolve models having it.
We may be talking the same thing the limited run of LT light weight were HUNTERS they had it. Cannot recall ever seeing a 3" original Gold with it but would love to know for sure. One of my goose hunting buds uses an original 3" very glossy hunter and his doesn't have it.
Please share the link if you can find it again. take care:)

From what I came up with today I think all the gold had it besides the 3" hunter models. I still may be wrong though.

There was the 3" Gold Hunter model, and then the 3" Gold Hunter 'Field' (or Classic as some called it). The 3" Hunter did not have the cut-off, but the 3" Hunter Field did. The Hunter Field had the semi-hump receiver.

Ok the original gold hunters did not, which is what my bud has and there is no cut off on his 3"
What you are calling hunter field or classic is actually the LT run is it not since they all had the hump receiver. They had it in 3"
Also fusion and evolve had it in 3" and all 3 1/2" had it. Is that correct????

Yes, we're talking about the same gun. It was actually a standard catalog item for a few years, and at first made available only to 'full line' dealers, but then made available to any dealer. Great guns, look really nice with the semi-hump. They were also later made in the Stalker (I had one, loved it) and SL versions.
