Friend of mine just dropped by with a new xbolt and he has an issue. The talley bases which he bought arent fitting right. They are genuine xbolt lightweight rings from talley but the rear ring does not tighten down. The screws seem too long for the holes. Here are the facts:
-The rings are positioned correctly (front on front, rear on rear)
-All the base screws are the same length.
-The holes in the rear of the reciever do not go through the reciever. They are blind. Is this normal? One pokes through a tiny but and has created a small bur but I dont believe it is causing the problem as NONE of the screws tighten down correctly. They seem to stay up about 1/16" too much.
-The front two screw holes on the front of the reciever go all the way through and you can see barrel threads. Is this normal?
It seems as though either one of two things is going on.
1) the base screws are the wrong length and too long
2) the holes in the reciever are too shallow.
I have mounted well over 100 scopes (never a browning mind you) and this one has me puzzled????
Can anybody help?
