Howdy folks:
Does anyone have any first hand experience with the Browning X-Bolt Suppressor Ready Carbon Fiber in .223 Rem? If so, I'd like to your opinions of this platform.
A 7 lb. rifle that is 39.25 inches OAL with a glass bedded action and a free floated 20" Heavy Sporter barrel looks like it would be a pretty good package, but it's
nice to get the opinions of people who have actually used one. I realize this is a fairly new offering by Browning, but with any luck I'll hear from a few who have
owned this gun.

Thanks, Rob

Rob if this rifle is a brand new offering from Browning it could be they won't make to Canada any time soon. Sounds like a great piece, you should be the first to buy one and yell us all how fantastic it truly is. FS

Right on LouF, the Browning Eclipse is a sweet rifle. I hope you get it sooner then later.

I love Brownings and the manufacturer used to be quite reliable. If they said 6 months, it was 6 months. Sadly, not anymore. I waited 18mths for a BAR after being told 3 times "another 6 months". Gave up and bought a BLR that was in stock.
However, I have two A Bolt II's and a X-Bolt. Really nice rifles!!
Just recently acquired a Savage model 12 (heavy barrel) in 223. Never really thought about a bolt rifle in 223 before. Love it!!! Shoot it all day long without the complementary headache for a week afterwards. Big boys come out once in a while but my go to range rifles now are 223, 22-250 and 308.
Good luck. Get your order in now and forget about it. Be a nice surprise when it actually comes in!

cheers,

w:h::owned:I was going to get a 17 HMR but can't stand throwing brass in the trash. If I wait till Christmas it will be a great present I bought myself.I told the wife no need to buy me a present I got one for myself..she said "what else is new"...

********** UPDATE **********

And so, after carefully weighing the pro's and con's of Tikka Varmints, Weatherby Vanguards, and various CZ's (and of course the Browning X-Bolt), the winner is...

Yes, she's a beauty. The heavy sporter barrel makes it a little nose heavy, but the Viper PST 2.5-10X44mm helps balance it out to where the balance point is right
beneath the chamber. Even though it has the threaded muzzle, I doubt I'll put a muzzle break on it: putting a muzzle break on a .223 Rem would be like putting
a spoiler on a 1968 Volkswagen Beetle - it may look cool, but that's about it. I haven't had out to the range yet, but I'm sure it'll be an accurate shooter - all my other
Brownings are.
If I remember to take my camera to the range, I'll post the results here just to make you guys jealous. ;)

Later, Rob

Congrats Rob, it's a nice looking rifle. I'm torn between the X-Bolt SR and the Ruger American Predator. Waiting to see your range report ... it may shift me over back to the Browning side :p

Mike,
When you are looking at the Brownings, be aware that some are a 1:12 twist rate and some are a 1:8 twist rate. Mine has the 1:8 twist rate, but the Hog Stalkers, which
look exactly the same with a different stock, are a 1:12 twist rate.
