Why? ........ I owned an A-Bolt for several years and ended up selling it, something that I regretted right away. Am in the process of trying to trade it back.

Saying that, I handled an X-Bolt recently and was impressed with the rifle overall. If the accuracy is anything like I got with my old A-Bolt, it would be a keeper for most of the average joe hunters out there.

I am the opposite, don't care at all for the A Bolt. Don't like the mag system especially and the stock feels clunky in my hands. The X Bolt on the other hand feels slimmer and quicker in my hands, and the polymer mag is much better in my opinion. The A Bolts are accurate and a great rifle, just personal preference.

Nikon scopes are on, bore sighted and ready to go. I just have to full length size some brass and make up some loads.
BTW, Everything was 15% off so it really helped with the decision.
I'm hoping to get them zeroed and try them on some 'yote dogs. Any ways, I am very happy x 2with my 1st ever Brownings!

Picked up a Stalker in 7-08 over the summer and love the way it shoots and feels. I notice recoil on the heavier handloads as it is a bit on the light side, but it is the smallest centerfire caliber I own so nothing that affects acccuacy for me.

All bullet weights shoot same POI and that is something to grin at!!!

Get one as soon as you can.
 
I love my xbolt as a hunting rifle, but ive yet to find any factory ammo that will shoot close to MOA. Its a 30-06 and even the most expensive crap doesnt fly worth a $***. Ive just got into reloading and the only powder ive been able to get is imr4227 and worked out a couple OK loads but they're not what id hunt with at 2045 fps. Its a beautiful rifle to handle and shoot but i seem to be the only one having serious problems getting it sub moa, and ive had lots of experianced shooters behind it too.. Ive shot other xbolts that could knock the center out of a toonie on the cold shot though.. I was set on a tikka but fell inlove with this way this gun fits me, i just hope to get it worked out one day..
 
@Mackinsaw, something's up for sure...I've got a 30-06, shooting 180's....likes anything it seems....shot a moose and bison this fall using Corelocks...MOA from a bouncy rest off my car roof...shocks myself every time I walk up to my target....good luck! Any chance your scope is giving you issues??

i got the 338 win mag, and it likes anything federal, currently federal premium 210gr, shoots moa , a more experienced shooter could get it sub though
 
I've yet to shoot mine. Handloads will be her diet, I just hope I don't run into any issues.
On a side note, anyone able to see the barrel threads through two front X-Lock ring holes directly above the chamber like I can with my 280 X Bolt? The screws threaded in just fine with zero bottoming out. So should I be concerned? I've been shooting the TC pro hunter the last 9yrs so really other than a TC icon and Win 70 Fwt I haven't owned a lot of bolt rifles.
 
NO. Browning drilled and tapped before installing the barrel, I've seen this before on other brands. HOWEVER the action is light and does not have a lot of metal in that area, when tightening the front screws be carefull and only use the lite end of firm. With only 3 or 4 turns of thread it won't take much to strip a screw.

Well if it made it passed the Browning QC dept. Then it couldn't be that bad then :D
Besides, after a mild torque with the Wheeler Fat wrench and some blue Loctite ,the X-Lock rings cover up the holes nicely. ;)
