Just picked up a new hells canyon speed xbolt.
I wasnt aware of a class action suit in the usa regarding the dura touch failing on the xbolt rifles.
After extensive reading it seems the stock finish failures are happening on earlier rifles but not conclusively.
Does anyone have any info regarding the latest edition xbolt and the dura touch issues. Is this still happening?
I might be able to return the rifle still as it's new but I didn't buy it to not keep it.
Thx RB

I personally haven't seen it on newer guns.

Ultimately, I like the duratouch finish, but if I had a gun with duratouch and it ended up wearing off, I wouldn't sweat it too bad. Most stocks just come as plain old plastic with nothing on them at all (I'm looking at you Tikka)

I have the duratuch on 1 rifle. It's a 22-250 I think it's around 10 years old. At first i did not really like it but the rifle was a gift. After a few times out i started to really like it. About 3 years ago it seemed to start to get a little more sticky, now when i tuch it it seems weird sticky, kind of like the tv remote when you have 3 toddlers in the house. Not sure if some chemical got on it or it just absorbed something in the air, or just went funny just because it can.

I haven't heard of this lawsuit. I am a 100% supporter of the dura-touch. I try and get it on all my guns. I have a hells canyon that hasn't seen any wet conditions yet, so its fine. I also have a 308 with the grey tactical cerakote and it hasn't seen any rain either.

The duratouch on my Winchester SX3 which is over 10 years old (probably over 1000 rounds down the pipe) started to wear last fall and this fall became sticky and clumpy when it got wet. Since drying completely its not tacky anymore, but I suspect it will be when I hunt in the rain again. This was my go to gun, got used pretty much every weekend in the fall for 10+ years, so I am not surprised.

Same thing happened to my SX3 deer gun this past fall which is the same age, but not nearly as bad.

I've had a Duratouch Stainless Stalker since 2014, it has seen a lot of rain and snow, it is still the same as new. I have a BPS 10ga with Duratouch, it hasn't seen a lot of bad weather, still the same as new. However, my young fella has a BPS 12ga, and the Duratouch is a bit stickier than it was when it was new, and it has a small patch that has peeled off the forend. I realy like the Duratouch and would not hesitate to buy more guns with it. I think some gun oils and solvents are its biggest enemy. After I wipe the metal parts with an oily rag I always take a dry rag and wipe any oil off of the Duratouch.

here guys whinge about their sandpaper like kimbers finish rubbing off in 5 handles.... of course. whattya expect?
the browning dura touch, well i figure its ok for a while, til ya use it enough an its guna rub off...

i really dont see how people buy, with intention of it lasting forever.

Mine has some parts wearing through the coating at the grip. It’s a bit ugly but the rest of the stock is still grippy. I was thinking of wrapping it in camo vinyl like my a-bolt but decided to wait. The vinyls not nearly as grippy.
