Anyone hear anything about the new A-Bolt III?
Supposedly Browning is in the makings of a rifle to compete
with the Ruger American and Vangaurd S1 and S2 series.
Probably a class or two up from the Axis.
Be interesting to see how it performs.

I wonder what they offer for chamberings?

Saw it advertised someplace as 'coming soon'. I didn't know it was going to be a bargain basement though, thought the A-bolt in the grey stock without the good recoil pad was taking care of that. Cabelas was selling them for $550 a short time ago, maybe round Christmas?

Just heard in a store that the new A bolts were held up with extractor issues, not sure if this is true.

Would Browning lower their standards to this degree? As for the Axis, I 'wonder' what I'll stake the tomatoes with this year.

Held one last week. The feel was pretty good. The stock wasn't some holly plastic thing. I didn't like the plastic trigger though. You need abolt 3 specific rings as well.

why the jump from 22" to 26" tube for magnum calibres?
24" would be better IMO

looks a little like a savage axis mag plastic clip

Oh and all you axis haters probably have never shot one.
I know because I was the same way. still think they are ugly but you cant argue with the results

Every time I touch an Axis I feel the need to bathe.....and I'm a huge cheap rifle AND Savage fan. No I will not get over it.

Especially the magazine and system, second to none.

I think they look rather ugly, and the bolt is enormous. For that price I'd rather a 700 SPS or Weatherby.

Very cheaply made. The trigger is not adjustable is made of plastic. Felt rough working the bolt. Two piece trigger guard. Not my cup of tea....
