Browning's BPCR in 45-70 should I buy it ?

I have a chance to buy one of these from a friend in like new condition . Anybody have one how well do they shoot this one has had about 10 rnds through it . he still has the box it comes with the long range sites etc. I've had no experience with these . How good are they?
I will be using black and cast bullets

If the price suits you, grab it. I've heard nothing but good things about the BPCR's.

Only downside I can think of, as raised by a buddy of mine last weekend, is that it's a long way to drive from here to the nearest range that has a decent silhouette set-up. YMMV, literally!

Bought mine when they first came out and by now has well over 5000 rds. thru it....just shoots better all the time.
Mine has never shot smokeless powder....just Black and it works really well with a 530 - 550 gr. bullet.
They were meant to shoot cast bullets and will last forever if you do .
 
Thanks for the input looks like its going to cost me know I have a martini tanner now with a Ron Smith barrel But its my 100yrd bench gun not set up for long range I've been using a Pedersoli rolling block for the long range but it don't keep up
 
Any body have an Idea what these are going for this one is like new Round count about 25 . I'm thinking somewere around $2000.00 ?
 
Before getting into casting,etc I had to use gun & realized they shoot good when I loaded heavy 300gr JHP with 55gr of 4198
and shot a 3 rd 1 1/2" group at 300yds. Recoil is not nice.
More fun with loads of 500gr cast at 1200fps range and works good.

Got mine new with case and taxes for about $2500 in 2000?
Three friends bought used in the last couple years and I think price was $1800 to $2200 range.

Great guns, accurate and fun, just hard to find long range.

I was one of the three and paid $1800 for my unfired BPCR, another buddy paid $2500 unfired and yet the other guy paid $2000 fired several rounds
 
Dez, although I sent you a PM, I discussed it with the others...thought I would post it.

Four of us went to the club range last summer, each with a BPCR, which was a first for the club. Had a great time. We discovered that two of the BPCR's (both standing in picture) had consecutive serial numbers and a completely different history of ownership.

They are a marvelous rifle and a joy to use. We did take a group photo for ourselves, but our facial images will remain anonymous at this time for fear bad people might use them for nefarious purposes. I think anything around or under $2200 is a fair price for a "like new" BPCR. If you can swing it, you should buy it....especially where it is like new. There are tens of people on the forum who would buy it quickly. You will always get your money back when you no longer want it...

Yeah those Browning BPCRs are total junk, but a little known fact is that they carry a disease that causes sterility in males.

My kids are all grown up and I don't need any more, so just to be on the safe side, send "Typhoid Brownie" to me, and I'll dispose of it in a sanitary manner.
