Bruin Down

I knocked down my last bruin about 10 minutes before dark. I hit him good at 60 yards with a .300 win mag loaded with 200 gr accubonds. It double lunged him. BUT, the damned thing took off like a bat out of hell at the shot and into, literally, IMPOSSIBLE, bush. I searched for the bear IN COMPLETE DARKNESS (other than my flashlight) for 3 hours, but had to quit. Then I came back the next morning, and found him 400 yards away in the middle of a small clearing. Man O Man, those bears are tough. Made me a little nervous I have to admit , traipsing around in the dark looking for a wounded bear. Your bear looks great!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats on waiting him out and nailing him. The only good bear is a dead bear I always say!!!

Finally time to cook a 6 lb bear roast on the wood stove. Started out frozen at 7 am at 200 - 250 degrees and kept it near those all day long. Even cooked the spuds on the wood stove.
In the pot is a liter of beef broth, 2 cloves of garlic, 2/3 tsp of sea salt, onion powder and pepper. Oh and a 6lb bear roast.
This is at 5pm. It was delicious. Saved the au-juice for gravy to make hot roast bear sandwiches today. It just falls apart just the way I like it.
