You know, I really, Really, REALLY ####ing hate the whole rolling pin idea which the Tanfoglio people seemed to adopt. I took out my extractor today on the Tanfoglio L (for cleaning), and it is an exercise in futility trying to re-assemble that, with only 2 hands!! I remember taking apart the CZ extractor, the pin was a snap to deal with this. THIS ####ing thing!?!?!? It isn't solid, it bends, it deforms, layers of the material peel away from it, aaaarrrrrgggg!!!!
I did manage to get it all assembled together, but not before I managed to whack my thumb with the hammer.... Just great.... Nice black and super tender thumbnail...

A helpful soul suggested this, via PM:

Just take a saftey pin and heat it up and put it through the nail and it will relieve the pressure and the pain will be gone.I work as a mechanic and have smacked my thumb dozens of times. This has worked everytime.

That is for a subungal hematoma.:D

yeah best get on it... I would suggest you use a small drill with a spade bit for best results though..:)

one of the guys did that had moose camp years ago Sh&#* you should seen the blood spray all over the place it shot out about 15' .but it did work to get rid of the pressure and the pain he said

This works for subungual (under the nail) bleeding. Only bother if you feel pressure or throbbing (after impact pain has worn off).

And Storm is right if the hematoma has started to dry, there's no point in doing this.

Thank you everyone for making the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Yuk, what a creepy topic! Next you'll be removing your own cataracts with a rusty tomato can lid and a pair of needle nosed pliers.

Aaaaaarrrrrrggggg!

u guys are nutz...go to the emergency!! haha!

Naw, not nutz (about this anyway) this is basic first aid. I remember a few years back when Vancouver sent it's residents a basic first aid manual this procedure was even in there.

It's a great little trick, for those of us who have had a good crush injury on a finger or toe know how much those damn vessels can throb if they are ruptured.

I'll admit, after watching my uncle heat up a piece of steel with a blow torch and coming at me with red hot metal I was fairly unnerved. However, the be a man gene kicked in and after all was said and done the worst part was the smell.
